The Main Line area dates back to the 19th century, as wealthier families in the suburbs used the commuter rail line to access employment in the city. In the late 1800s and early 1900s, the Main Line grew as a destination for the Philadelphia area’s wealthier population, and became a center of social and cultural living. The area began to grow and feature large mansions, prestigious schools, and beautiful homes, many of which still exist today.
The Main Line continued to grow in the mid-1900s, as more housing developments were built in proximity to the rail line. As the community grew, it became one of the most desirable regions for real estate in the area. This growth continues today, and the SEPTA Regional Rail line offers multiple commuter rail lines in the area for residents to access the city comfortably and easily.
The Main Line is known for its beautiful natural landscapes, historic and charming homes, tree-lined streets, as well as a variety of amenities and culture. While its proximity to Philadelphia offers multiple opportunities for dining, shopping, sports, history and so much more, there is a wealth of shopping and dining options in the area itself, including the King of Prussia Mall, one of the largest malls in the world.
